Julie is a former Potomac Pony Clubber and grew up in the area riding and showing. As a highly motivated young rider, she moved to Germany for a three years immersion in the field. She successfully competed at the one star level in Europe. After teaching everything from Equitation, starting young horses and pre-Vet at the Morven Park International Equestrian Institute, a 9 month intensive training school, she opened Bascule Farm in Poolesville. Believing that the best way to further the cause of excellent riders and trainers, Julie mentors many area Instructors including those in the very popular Resident Student program. She still thoroughly enjoys teaching amateurs from the ground up.
