Here are a few rules to keep in mind:
- You do not need a “pony”. A horse will do just fine as long as they get along with others, and can be managed appropriately by the rider.
- You do not need to know how to vault. You are allowed to use your stirrups to remount your pony.
- Games are played by divisions according to age/ability: RISING STARS are for D1’s (games will be played at the walk or trot only)
- JUNIORS are up to age 13 as of Jan 1, 2004
- SENIORS are up to age 16 as of Jan 1, 2004
- ADVANCED PAIRS (at least one of the pair must be 17 or older as of Jan 1, 2004)
- There are rider weight and pony size restrictions: small pony (under 12.2h) cannot have a rider over 117 lbs., a medium pony (12.2- 13.2h) cannot have a rider over 150 lbs, and a large pony (over 13.2 h) cannot have a rider over 190 lbs.
- If you are new to games go to the USPC website www.ponyclub.org and look under “FORMS” for the 2003 GAMES RULEBOOK. Download the rulebook and read it!! You will be well prepared for the Games Rally.
