Eventing

The Capital Region eventing rally is held every year to provide an environment where the young riders can compete for fun against their peers to decide who will represent the region at the National Championships.

The following taken from the Introduction of the USPC Eventing rulebook. It describes the type competition but does not describe how the rallies are structured or how they operate.

Eventing embodies the core activity of Pony Club that of three riding disciplines (Dressage, Cross-Country, Show Jumping) and horse management, providing members with a broad equestrian base needed to enjoy any horse activity throughout their lives in a safe and competent manner. USPC Eventing Rallies are intended to be competitions, not lessons. Riders and horses are expected to come to rallies capable of competition at the level entered.

All USPC Eventing Rallies are governed by the USPC rules herein, the current USPC Horse Management (HM) Handbook, and the USPC Eventing Annual Newsletter(s). Together with the Organizers Guide for Eventing Rallies and the USA EQUESTRIAN Rules for Eventing they comprise a complete reference for Organizers, Judges, Regional Supervisors (RSs), District Commissioners (DCs), Instructors and Competitors.

Every eventuality cannot be provided for in these rules. In unforeseen or exceptional circumstances it is the duty of the Ground Jury to make a decision in the spirit of the sport and safety, and to approach as nearly as possible the intention of these rules.

Clinics with activities that teach skills necessary to all phases of rally procedures are encouraged as part of every clubs instruction program. Pony Club members planning to attend an Eventing rally at any level should be comfortable riding in the open. In preparation for the rally, they should plan to school at least one cross-country course.

NOTE: All references to the word horse should be interpreted as mount. Any rallies, such as one-day qualifying or non-qualifying rallies, may need to adjust the schedule. Non-qualifying rallies may adjust the rules to fit local conditions, but safety may not be compromised in any way.
