March 10:  Lessons Update

Lessons in the works for Seneca Valley Pony Clubbers:

Judy McGaughan will be returning from Florida in early April.... around the 8th.  Judy has worked with our C-ls and above for some time now and most kids love her and what she has done for their dressage
position, scores, and understanding of the discipline. Her farm in on Haines Road in Clarksburg.  Once again this season, we have decided to allow everyone to contact Judy and make their own schedule as it simplifies it for all.  You may take private lessons for $5l per lesson or semi private for $25.50.  If you do a semi you must make sure you have a partner and that you all work together on schedules. Please
contact Judy directly (301-253-4669) to set up a time and then inform me of when you are taking them.  I can not just find out from Judy at the end of the month th! at you are working with her.   We will pay for the lessons on a month to month basis, so that we do not have to worry about makeups, etc. HOWEVER,   IF you schedule a lesson and must cancel you must give Judy 24 hours notice, or else she will charge for it AND SVPC will not pick up the tab on that one.

I will send out a balance due email at the end of each month and expect
to have payments very soon so that we may make this a feasible way to
work.

Matt Flynn will also be home from the sunny south soon and will start a Cross Country/Eventing prep  series of lessons on April 8 at Bittersweet.   I need to know by the 21st of March if you plan to join these, so that we may work out group levels and times.  The lessons will probably start at 4 pm and go in l to l l/2 hour increments, all depends on how many and the level.   The series be a series of 8 lessons and will run every Tuesday from April 8  to  May 27 and the cost will be $170 to the PC'er.

For those of you that don't know Matt, he is a graduate A Pony Clubber of SVPC and has helped a lot of our kids in the past couple of years and is coaching the Eventing rally..  This would be a great way to improve your eventing skills if you are thinking of Championships, because it would allow Matt to know you, your horse, and your areas of weakness before the actual rally. Matt worked with Judy McGaughan for many years and now is a regular student of Phillip Dutton, USEA Rider of the Year, and also works with several other top names in the sport.  Because of this he is able to hand down their knowledge to you.

Games lessons will commence on a weekly basis on Monday, March 31st at Two Sisters Farm with Michelle Reilly. Again, we need to know if you plan to attend so that we may break down the groups into workable skill levels. Start time will probably be 5 p.m.   Cost will be $15 per lesson.  If you are interested in playing and don't have a pony, please let Mr. Freeman or myself know ASAP so that we may help you find a pony to lease or borrow to see if you want to become a super games player.

Heather Fay is teaching on a weekly basis Dressage to some of the D's at her farm in Dickerson.  Heather taught at D Camp last summer and has worked with a few D's all winter. If you would like to work with Heather  private or semi private at a very reasonable rate, Please let me know and I will help you schedule something.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D  CAMP    will be held on June 16 to 20 th this year.     It is the week immediately following our Horse Trials and Eventing Rally..  BUSY TIME!!!!!!!!!   I need HELP!!!!!!!!!! I need C's and above to teach, assist and mentor the younger inexperienced PC'ers.  We will try to cover most of the disciplines that Pony Club offers, even if just for a few short hours of the week.

If you are interested in helping please contact me,  Nellie Hanagan 301-972-8105 or tnhanagan@earthlink.net and tell me how you would like to help (what would you like to teach to these D's) .  Remember this experience can count towards a rating for you and also  Student Service hours........   HOWEVER............. this is not a social engagement.   All D's should also plan to participate at all times, even down to lunch time as a group. I want LESS parental involvement in all aspects of the camp and more interaction of C's and D's than in the past. Last year we rated a large group of D's during camp, with much less stress than the usual rating process and more of a hands on learning experience for them.
